Tree Kangaroo

The topic of this post is the Tree Kangaroo. They are located in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. Unlike regular kangaroos, tree kangaroos have arms and legs that are approximately the same length. Tree kangaroos can grow up to 41-77 cm long and their tail can grow up to 40-87 cm long. They can also weigh up to 14.5 kg. Their diets consist of grains, flower, sap, eggs, young birds, and bark. The tree kangaroos are important because they are Australia's largest tree dwelling mammals. Tree kangaroos are endangered due to hunting and habitat loss. In fact there are only 50 individual tree kangaroos are left making them critically endangered.  Tree kangaroos are being hunted for food by native communities, this alone caused the population to decline. Also due to logging and timber production most of the tree kangaroo's habitat is disappearing which, makes it harder to support a large population of these amazing creatures.
